§ 1. (Revision) Corporate existence continued.

  • (a)

    The inhabitants of the City of Waycross, Georgia, as its limits are now, or may be hereafter established, shall continue to be a body politic and corporate to be known and designated as the City of Waycross, and the corporate existence, identity, present territorial limits, and jurisdiction of the City of Waycross, both within and beyond the territorial limits of said city, with all the corporate rights, powers, and privileges conferred, and all duties, obligations, and liabilities imposed by law shall be preserved unto said city, except as altered or amended by this Act; and as such body politic said city shall have perpetual succession, may sue and be sued, contract and be contracted with, have a corporate seal, and make, alter, and amend rules, regulations, bylaws, resolutions, and ordinances for its government and the exercise of its corporate powers, not in conflict with this Act, the Constitution and laws of Georgia, and of the United States of America.

    (b)

    All ordinances, resolutions, rules, and regulations now enforced in the city not inconsistent with this Charter shall be valid and of full effect and force until amended or repealed by the commission.

    (c)

    Except as specifically provided otherwise by this Charter, all rights, claims, actions, orders, contracts, and legal or administrative proceedings shall continue in any such ongoing work or cases and shall be completed by such city agencies, personnel, or offices as may be provided by the commission.
